Feedback on Elective Subjects
If you have previously taken up or are planning to sign up for an elective course then this message is for you to read and follow, and I believe, all of you. I appeal to all students to please visit our chat forum and start writing down reviews of credit courses they have taken up. This way other students can have an idea whether it is worth or not signing up for those courses. This feedback is based on reviews by fellow students, which as we all know provides us with a much more accurate insight than if the courses were to be described by the departments. Hence, I believe this measure is in everyone's best interest.
EGSC Meeting
A EGSC meeting will be held tomorrow (20th of March) at 18:00 in Seminar room nº5.

If you are wondering why this post might interest you, please refer to the post entitled "Back 2 Beck", posted on the 3/8/07 at 10:21 PM.
Kovacs' Notes
There have recently been some problems with downloading the Kovacs' Notes from BRY's Exam Notes. Just want to let know those interested that the problem has been fixed and the notes are once again available for download. Enjoy your long weekend Happy
Proof of Payment
When you pay your tuition fee you have to show proof of the transfer or whatever sort of payment you chose to use to the Register's Office by means of a receipt. If you do not do this you will be fined. I know the warning has already been released, but this one is for the upcoming semesters. Show them you have payed your tuition, if you do not do so, do not go crying back to them begging for forgiveness... you don't deserve it then. Hear and see no evil not applicable in this case.
Smoking at POTE
The EGSC has recently been trying to establish a smoking perimeter so as to try and clear the main entrance to the university and reduce the number of second hand smokers. But the funny thing is that it is actually illegal to smoke on campus. So by creating a smoking perimeter, the university would actually be supporting the fact they are breaking the law. Therefore, it cannot be done with the support of POTE. However, there is nothing standing in the way of students to make a change. Until the EGSC comes up with more effective measures, we appeal to everybody's good sense to please try and push your friends and classmates to realize that the clumping of smokers at the entrance is a problem and you need to work your way through it.
Back 2 Beck
Mr. Beck will be present on the next meeting of the student council to be held on the 20th of March (exact time and location yet to be defined). All students interested in asking Mr. Beck any (relevant) questions are welcome to join the initial 20 minutes of the meeting.
School on Saturday 2
Just so you won't get confused...

March 10th (Saturday) – school day: Friday’s schedule (substituting March 16)

March 15th (Thursday) – national holiday: no school on this day

March 16th (Friday) – given as holiday: no school on this day
Umbrellas...
That's right - umbrellas. For all of those that went to last weekend's millennium ball, it seems like a lot of you brought your umbrellas along. I don't blame you, it was a rainy Saturday. Many forgot them there while others took home umbrellas that don't actually belong to them (such as my umbrella). So you might want to check for any lost and founds over at the restaurant (not only umbrellas), and please do return the umbrellas that don't belong to you to their rightful owners. Just type in on our chat forum a small description of the object in your possession and leave some form of contact. I know the rainy session will hopefully soon be over, but that doesn't mean we don't need our dear umbrellas back.
BRY' Exam Notes Up and Running
BRY has decided to share his legacy of notes with us and has now made available all his notes in his own corner here at this web site. They are now available FREE for download. On behalf of all students of this university, I would like to thank BRY for all the time and effort he has taken into making these notes (and this website) available for all students in an easy to access and free sharing way. You have helped us in many ways BRY. Cheers to you!
Keeping Track
This website has an average of 15 visitors a day. If you are wondering how we know this, just take a look at the counter at the bottom left of this page, installed after the last exam period. We have now zeroed out the counter to more accurately keep track of motions at this web site. Hope you will keep the numbers rolling!
School on Saturday
I would like to inform you all that March 10th, Saturday, is a working day following Friday's schedule (making up for Friday, March 16th, which will be a holiday). Contrary to common gossip, there is no Dean's holiday on March 10th. Sorry for the bad news Sad
Student Council on the net
The contacts of all members of the English German Student Council and year representatives of both English and German Program have been recently updated on this website. Just click on the menu to your left on the headline "About the Student Council" for more information. A small request to all members and year representatives, please check if your information is correct and let me know by e-mail if any changes need to be taken care of. I apologize for not posting any contacts of group leaders, but I imagined that once the year representative is reachable, he/she should be able to provide you with further information so as to contact a specific group leader.
Anatomy for 2nd years
Students who are repeating Anatomy 3 are now enrolled in the new system and according to the law they have to follow it. However, Prof. Csernus Valer has assured that not much has changed except the name of the exam. It will consist of 80% Neuroanatomy and 20% Basic Anatomy (whatever that means...). If this basic anatomy knowledge is poor, students are not fit to pass the exam.

In respect to the overpopulated groups in anatomy, Prof. Csernus requests for the exact groups with this problem to be pointed out, since the etr shows an equal group size. This information should be handed in in writing.
Biochemistry for 2nd years

Exam:
40 Questions total
10 MRT (covering 2nd semester only) where at least 5 must be correct.
30 theory questions covering both semesters lectures
120 points (3 points per question)
59% passing limit
At least 5 of 10 MRT must be passed in order to pass the exam,
80 minutes (2 minutes per question)

MRT
This is a set of key points (answers if you like) that will be given out by the department. (NOT questions).
They cover only labs and seminars from the 2nd semester.
Their goal is to point out the most essential knowledge that you as students are supposed to acquire during the course practices. Much of which actually will be useful to remember for later.
Questions given under the MRT part of the exam shall all be covered by these key points.
At least half of the MRT questions must be passed before the rest of the exam will be corrected. They are point wise graded the same way as the other 30 questions. (3pts/q).

Semester test
Not certain that there will be one, but if you get one, we have asked for one of two possibilities. The first possibility has been set as preference by the students.

One test being similar to the tests given previous semester will take place in week 10. This is a pure bonus test, where we asked for a bonus ranging from 0-10% according to performance. These bonus points will be added to the correction of the final exam. If executed, you as students will probably have to sign up for the test some days in advance. This is a wish from the biochemistry department, since they wish to have a test which is fair for the students and at the same time not having to do extra work for those students who do not show an effort. As said, this is a bonus test, and participation is therefore voluntary. Absence will give no penalty.

Two sets of questions will be given out during the semester for your answering. These will give you no bonus, but are meant to be a self study - a “bench mark” for self study, if you like.
