informs everyone with deep sorrow and pain,
that our pharmacy student
Miklós Dékány
passed away in tragic circumstances on 26 November 2009, at the age of 19.
His memory will always remain deep within our hear.

Dear Colleagues, Students and Relatives,

Yesterday a tragic event happened at the Department of Biophysics at
the Medical Faculty.
A mentally ill student who owned a gun licence was shooting in the corridor and in the laboratory, wounding four Hungarian people.
One student died on the spot, another student got severely injured. He was being operated on by the casualty surgical team which lasted more than 6 hours and afterwards he was given to the ICU in stable state. We all hope in his full recovery.
Two of our colleagues, an instructor and a cleaner were also badly wounded.
Following the emergency call the ambulance and the police arrived rapidly.
The delinquent was caught by the police within 20 minutes, after he gave himself up at the 7th floor of the 400 Bed Clinic.
We thank the ambulance and the police for their swift and proficient intervention.
We thank our colleagues for their conduct manifested in the situation.
We assure the relatives, students and colleagues that the instruction will continue from Monday as usual.
We express our deepest compassion and sympathy to the families of the injured victims and the deceased. We ask everybody to continue their work on the usual high standard.

The Rector of the University ordained an instruction break on Monday,
November 30th, between 11.30 AM – 1 PM.
At the above mentioned period the Student Councils of the faculties will hold a silent commemoration for the memory and respect of thursday's victim and injured people.
The aim of this commemoration is to call our attention to the importance of the need for watching out for each other.
During the instruction break all instruction activities shall be suspended and therefore students and teachers can all attend the commemoration.
The commemoration will be held in the auditorium / aula
of the medical faculty, starting at 11.30 am.
